Macerates (Infused Oils)

macerates.jpgMacerates are carrier oils into which therapeutic herbs have been infused. Also known as herbal oils, infused oils or phytols, they are created by infusing the flowering tops of the herb in a carrier oil, imparting to the base oil the quality of the herb. Some plants, such as Calendula (Marigold) do not allow the creation of essential oils through normal methods, but when macerated in oil, provide a wonderful oil with many therapeutic uses.
