Aftershaves (2 items)
Oshadhi's Aftershaves are, like all our products, made out of pure and natural ingredients. You will particularly enjoy them if you like a subtle and uplifting fragrance, but tend to steer clear of the heavy synthetic products on the market. Aftershave which contains rosemary, rose geranium, mint, lemon and sandalwood is light and herby, subtle and fresh. Aftershave extra is stronger and woodier with its frankincense, vetiver and sandalwood.
Our aftershaves contain 100% pure essential oils in 80% ethanol, blended together to refresh the skin after shaving, and, with their antibacterial properties they help to prevent inflammation while removing impurities.

Aloe Vera Moisturizers (8 items)
The healing properties of the desert plant Aloe Vera have been known since antiquity. Assyrians, Babylonians, and and other ancient peoples enjoyed skin care with Aloe Vera. The juice contains enzymes for metabolism, hormones for wound healing, glucose, saponines, iron, calcium, trace elements of zinc and manganese as well as many other highly useful substances. Tannic acids account for its astringent properties.
Added to this, Aloe Vera contains biogenic stimulators that open up very promising possibilities in cosmetic therapy.

Angelica helps strengthen the immune system, and soothes the respiratory tract. Angelica is said to 'digest hidden negative emotions', making it one of the choice oils against anxiety. In fact the plant has long been used in traditional European folk medicine as a digestive tonic and detoxifyer, and to support all the organs of elimination.
Angelica is one of the few plants where the theme of essential oils has literally overpowered the entire plant: essential oils are everywhere, in the seeds, in the stem, in the leaves, in the root. The oil from the root is strongly photosensitising, so don't use it on the skin before going out in direct sunlight. Angelica blends with Ylang ylang, Bergamot, Spruce, Sandalwood.
Anise is traditionally known for its ability to support the digestive tract, where it fights digestive fermentation with a clearing action. It can also help against intestinal spasm, restoring appetite.
Star Anise is bio-chemically very similar to the oil of true Anise, although not a seed oil but stemming from a fruit of a tree from China. Similiar to Sweet Fennel oil, it has phyto-hormonal properties.

Organic aromatherapy defines the Oshadhi vision.
We collect Essential Oils & Absolutes, Hydrolats, Carrier Oils, and Macerates wherever we can find them in all parts of the world. 70% of our collection are either organic essential oils or are from wild-crafted plants. In this way we connect aromatherapists who are committed to natural healing methods, with growers who are dedicated to working with nature in a caring and considerate way.
Over the past 15-20 years, we have established strong ties with farmers of medicinal plants who are not only willing to contribute to the wise and prudent treatment of the soil, but have demonstrated a deep love of plants and respect for nature. Whenever we make contact with new farmers and producers we immediately draw their attention to the far-reaching positive consequences of responsible ecological farming.
In our search in various countries for farmers with these high standards, we have also witnessed increasing destruction of the soil due to the misuse of natural resources. This is specifically due to clear-cutting of plants, over-harvesting, the use of chemical fertilizers, the use of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides, and also mono-cultural farming. It is very unfortunate that only few farmers are aware of the dramatic consequences of these widespread practices.
Oshadhi's search for purity and ecological soundness in the area of essential oils is a task which needs energy and commitment. We are convinced that this is the way to secure a place for aromatherapy in man's growing awareness of nature, and to make use of its immense healing powers for many generations to come.

Basil has a warm, sweet, spicy rich aroma. It has a tonifying and reviving effect on the nervous system which makes it excellent for reviving a tired mind or if you are in need of a boost. It is a wonderful digestive, and may be diluted with a carrier oil and rubbed into the abdomen. It has a supportive action on the respiratory tract, so it can be used in inhalers or room diffusers. Basil is a powerful clearing antiseptic, and an ideal support in the fight against germs. It blends particularly well with Lavender, and also Bergamot, Camomile, Clary Sage, Geranium, Lemongrass, Marjoram, and Rose. There are many different species and subspecies of Basil oil, and also different chemotypes from different parts of the world.

Bergamot - Refreshing, cooling, uplifting, relaxing - is derived from a citrus fruit like a minature orange, which grows almost exclusively in Italy. The aroma will be familiar to many since it is this oil which gives Earl Grey tea its distinctive flavour, and bergamot is also a key ingredient in eau de cologne. The aroma of bergamot is sweet, fruity and slightly spicy, and its main feature is its uplifting quality, without being stimulating. This makes it marvellously cheering, refreshing and balancing, and it can help pave the way for a restful night. It is a strong antiseptic and a good support for the genito-urinary tract, and is often used for teenage skin. Most of all it is a great soothing oil for a Type-A personality. Bergamot essential oil is photosensitising, so use the distilled (furocumarin free) oil on your skin if you are planning to go out in direct sunlight. Normally expressed from the rind of the fruit, when the oil is distilled it is naturally free from furocumarins. It combines very well with most other oils, particularly Geranium, Lavender, Juniper, Neroli, Rosemary and Pine.
Here's a short selection of some of the most commonly used carrier oils.
A smaller selection of the most widely used hydrolats.
Black Pepper is a particularly warming and stimulating oil, which makes it suitable against coldness and weakness. Its heating quality supports digestion (digestive fire), and it can be blended in a suitable carrier oil with fennel or cardamom and massaged into the abdomen. This ability to increase heat where it is applied make it a useful aid to combat poor circulation such as cold hands and feet (combine in a massage blend with ginger, for example), and also as a support for the respiratory system (use in a room diffuser). Its intriguing, slightly spicy aroma will often add interest to other blends, but be aware that Black Pepper can be a skin irritant so should not be used in dilutions of more than about 0.5%. Black Pepper blends well with many other oils, such as Juniper or Rosemary (for a detoxifying blend), or Marjoram (for tired muscles), Mandarin, Lavender, and most spicy and floral oils.

4070 - Soothing
A4030 - For after a hard day's play
Our friend Beverley Higham has created some unique blends just for women. Here she explains her inspiration.
Time. We seem to have so little of it.
Time comes and time goes. Time is free, yet time is priceless. Time binds, but time can also liberate.
Because we are ever the same, but always changing, I have created a fragrant range of aromatherapy blends to bring the stability of timelessness to your changing moods and emotional states.
When you are in need of balance and harmony through the endless cycles of life, try Prime Time Plus. This releases tension and encourages emotional stability via its natural aroma. This unique blend has been designed to ease the many ups and downs of being a woman.
When the cycle changes and it is time to pause, when joy and confidence seem in short supply, the grounding influence of this exotic blend, Time to Pause, will encourage a more positive outlook. A greater sense of self-worth allows you to make the most of every day.
Both of these harmonizing blends are available in a rapidly absorbed luxurious body lotion for every day use, as well as a simple synergy formula.
As women, we need to embrace time and value change.
Enjoy the power of aromatherapy and remember how truly special you are.

Body Wrap Treatments (6 items)
Body Wraps are amazingly effective treatments that help to reduce cellulite, and aid circulation and the elimination of toxins. They can also improve skin health and vitality. But what determines the effectiveness of the treatment is the substance used for the wrap.
Our Body Wraps are 100% natural source with no artificial elements added. What is more they are of pure plant origin, not only helping to eliminate toxins, but also adding to the skin's vitality with the energy of the plants.
Choose a wrap to suit the situation. The Moor and Moor Gel have a detoxifying, anti-inflammatory action, and improve circulation, etc, with the Moor Gel being easier to remove and perhaps more suitable where no wet room is available. While the Algamoor and Seaweed Gel have primarily skin moisturizing and toning benefits, with the Gel again being perfect where there is no wet room available.

A full list of Botanicals is provided here to help prevent the considerable confusion that may arise from plants which share similar common names. The categories below contain all our pure plant products by botanical name. It includes all essential oils, absolutes, hydrolats, carrier oils and macerates.
The botanical name is the only sure and certain way of defining the plant (and its oil), and we also give details of its country of origin (because the same plant growing in different climates can produce subtly different essential oils), part of the plant used, and method of cultivation.
Please select a product from the list below whose botanical name begins with one of these letters. You will be presented with a list of products starting with that letter.

Camomile (Chamomile) brings to mind the words soothing, calming and relaxing, particularly in relation to skincare, and the nervous and digestive systems. Rightly so, but interestingly there are a number of different oils which all are known as camomile, and all have similar properties, all look similar, and all belong to the same plant family. German - or Blue - Camomile essential oil contains azulene which gives it its characteristic beautiful blue colour, and has a heavy sweet and herbaceous aroma. Roman Camomile essential oil is sweeter aromatically. It shares the same therapeutic properties, but it milder than German Camomile, which makes it more suitable for children, or anyone who is particularly sensitive or those with a weak constitution. Wild Camomile grows in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco and is particularly useful for skincare, is a good support for the female reproductive system, and is the best Camomile for use in perfumery. Camomile Blue Tansy is also high in azulene and has similar properties to German Camomile.
The soothing quality of camomile makes it a good support for the digestive system, and the oil also has a general calming effect, soothing irritability or nervousness. It can also help to alleviate skin discomfort. Its gentle properties make camomile suitable for use with children. It blends well with Lavender, Geranium, Clary Sage, Lemon, Marjoram, and Rose.
Carrier Oils (48 items)
Aromatherapy massage uses blends composed of essential oils in carrier oils.
Carrier oils are vegetable oils, such as Sweet Almond, Hazelnut, Sesame, Coconut, etc, and different oils can be suitable for different skin types. Try creating your own vegetable oil blends, such as Wheatgerm, Sunflower, Sesame and Hazelnut; or add 10% of Avocado to sweet almond, which makes a blend which is great for dry skin. Some make perfect facial oils where you just need a few drops. Oshadhi supplies 30 different vegetable oils (many with organic and non-organic cultivation) all of which are suitable for massage use. All are cold-pressed. So that you can try them out easily, we offer many of these oils in 30ml sizes.

Cedar essential oil perfectly illustrates the importance of precisely defining the plant of origin, for there are many different oils which are described as Cedar, and they have different profiles. When we talk in terms of Western aromatherapy we will normally be talking about the Atlas Cedar, usually from Morocco or Algeria, which is warming, soothing, uplifting, and therefore a good support for the nervous system - a wonderful oil for lifting the spirits. Its antiseptic and antimucolic qualities indicate that it can be a good support for the respiratory system. Atlas Cedar is often used to fortify a tired mind, and it can be good for improving concentration and helping get rid of lethargy. It is popular in many massage blends as part of a de-tox or anti-cellulite programme. Himalayan Cedar is closely related and has many of the same properties, but Texas Cedar and Virginian Cedar, which are more closely related to Juniper, Port Oxford Cedar and Japanese Cedar are from different plant families and should not be confused. Cedar blends well with many woody oils, such as Cypress, Frankincense and Sandalwood, as well as Juniper, Myrrh, and Bergamot.
Cellulite is a condition which is largely caused by poor circulation and drainage. It results in inflammation at a deep layer of the skin and subsequent build up of a fatty deposit.
The amazing properties of the Moor provide the perfect antidote. A full spa Body Wrap using the pure Moor, or MoorGel may be enhanced with the use of Contour Cream, Bioshorts, Herbal Infusion and Moor Bath as part of a home treatment.
Here is a comment from a recent Elixea user:
I have sensitive, slightly red skin and I have suffered from acne over the last year. I bought the radiance serum, moisture cream (oily), skin balm and the normal face mask, and I am convinced they have really made the difference!
I have been using them for about 4 weeks now, so very good results!
I can honestly say after trying most of the products on the high street that I have finally found some that suit my skin. Thank you for introducing me to Elixea.

Cinnamon is strongly antibacterial and antifungal, and is a good support for the immune system, but should be used with caution since it is a strong skin irritant. It is antiseptic and warming, and can be used as a digestive stimulant and respiratory support. It is stimulating and tonifying for the nervous system. However it is important to distinguish between the oil derived from the bark, and that from the leaf, since they have different makeups and different qualities. The oil from the bark has that familiar warm, spicy and sweet aroma. It is a strong skin irritant so this method of use is not recommended, although it can safely be used in a diffuser. The oil from the leaf has similar therapeutic properties, but it can be used with caution on the skin but in very low dilutions (0.5%). Aromatically it is more akin to Clove, than cinnamon.
Cinnamon oil blends well with Clove, Orange, Mandarin, Frankincense, and Cedar.

Clary Sage is a gentle plant related to sage. It has a sweet, warm, tea-like, nutty scent. It is usually thought of as a feminine aroma with an uplifting quality to help ease the blues. In fact it is known for its inspirational and even euphoric effects on the psyche. Clary Sage is excellent both as a muscle rub and a wonderful romantic massage oil, and blends well with Geranium, Grapefruit, Lavender, Sandalwood, Jasmine and Rose.

Clove can be made from the bud, the leaf or the stem of the tree. Of these, only the oil from the bud is suitable for aromatherapy massage (and even then not at concentrations of more than 2%), since the oils from the stem and the leaf are powerful skin irritants. With its strong phenolic content, this is a powerful antiseptic oil which can be used in a room diffuser during winter months (try blending with Orange Essential Oils, and other Spice Essential Oils). This will also give a cheering, festive atmosphere. A warming, stimulating oil, whose analgesic properties are traditionally used to relieve the pain of toothache.
Coriander has its most important action on the digestive system. It is a warming oil which stimulates the appetite and also acts as a digestive tonic. It can be used in a massage blend and rubbed into the abdomen. The oil also has a fortifying effect, and brings confidence and comfort. It has a sweet, spicy, and slightly woody aroma, which blends beautifully with Sandalwood, Jasmine and Bergamot, for general massage, and also deoderising and perfumery. It is also valued for its aphrodisiac properties.
Cypress has its primary use as a support for the circulatory system, blood and lymph flow. It has a warm, woody and slightly spicy aroma, and will be familiar to many being often used in men's toiletries such as aftershaves. It has an antiseptic and detoxifying effect, helps to deodorise and reduce perspiration, and may also be used in a massage blend to support the removal of excess fluid in the body. It is refreshing, uplifting, toning, astringent and cooling. Use it in massage blends, bath oils, steam inhalation and room fragrancing. Blends beautifully with Cedar, Juniper, Orange and Lavender. Blue Cypress comes from an entirely different tree that grows in Australia. See its own entry.
Below are listed the products that would be most likely to suit damaged skin.

Essential oils are highly complex organic substances. Each oil may be composed of up to 450 different separate compounds. Classifying them according to aromatic type is never going to be an exact science, but the following may prove a helpful guide.
Frankincense is associated with meditation, spirituality, the search for higher consciousness - and also the lungs. Perhaps it is no coincidence that one of its known effects is to settle down the breathing, a quality welcomed in religious pursuit. The essential oil has an aroma that is at once familiar and mysterious, balsamic and spicy. It is obtained from resin that the tree exudes, which is then steam distilled to produce the essential oil. Frankincense has a special effect on the lungs and pulmonary system, where it has an antiseptic and clearing effect. In this regard the oil is best used in a massage on the chest area, where it may be blended with Basil or Pine in a carrier oil. Frankincense also has a wonderfully calming effect on the emotions, reduces anxiety and relieves stress. The other main area of action is on the skin where it has a definite tonifying effect, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also blends well with Citrus Essential Oils, oils from evergreen trees such as Scots Pine and Siberian Fir, Rose Essential Oils, and - happily - Myrrh.
Geranium is a beautiful oil with a strong affinity to the female psyche. It is uplifting without being excessively stimulating, and has a balancing influence on many levels of the mind and body. Its physiological activity is on the nervous system, lungs, skin, circulation and immune system, so it is an oil with many dimensions. Geranium is a key component in many massage blends: it works well in an anti-cellulite blend, and the combination of the sensual effect of the oil in a gentle aromatherapy massage makes Geranium a supreme oil for stress and tension reduction, and balancing emotional swings. It is often used in high class perfumery. Rose Geranium is a different species of geranium which, as its name implies, rejoices in a rose-like aroma. It has similary therapeutic qualities. Geranium blends beautifully with Lavender, Clary Sage, Sandalwood, Citrus (especially Bergamot) and Rose.
Ginger is strongly associated with the digestive system. Ginger root is one of the key remedies in ayurveda for stimulating digestive fire (agni), and Ginger essential oil lends itself well to abdominal massage where it may be used in a blend. It is warming and stimulating, encouraging movement, but also soothing to tired muscles. It brings warmth wherever it is applied, so it is a great oil to use in the winter months. It blends well with Ylang Ylang, other spice oils such as Clove and Coriander, Vetiver, and most citrus oils.
Grapefruit is the ultimate pick-me-up. It has a sweet, zesty, citrus aroma which is marvellously cooling, cleansing and refreshing. This can be useful both for short term remedies (try using Grapefruit for relieving fatigue on long trips) or in the long term for refreshing a jaded outlook on life. Sniff it directly from the bottle or use it in an aroma diffuser. Grapefruit also has a detoxifying effect, making it a useful addition to anti-cellulite and other detoxifying massage blends. It is a useful ingredient in skincare preparations, particularly for oily or acneic skin. Grapefruit blends well with Bergamot, Lavender, Geranium, Cypress, Palmarosa, Ginger and Frankincense. Use Pink Grapefruit in the same way, but enjoy its sweeter fragrance.
Green and Herbaceous oils tend to have middle notes. They are cooling, balancing to the emotions, harmonizing, and perhaps settling. You can use these oils especially if you are feeling irritable or frustrated.

Helichrysum is one of the hidden secrets of aromatherapy. The oil has wonderful blood decongesting properties, and is more powerful than arnica. A lot of cosmetic acupuncturists use this oil because of this property. The oil is good for emotional bruising too, and can be sniffed direct from the bottle at times of stress. It is one of the safest oils to use directly on the skin, and it blends well with Lavandin, Lavender, Rose, Jasmine and Camomile. Helichrysum italicum is most favoured for therapeutic use, and 1590, Organic Helichrysum, is recommended by Virginia Doran in her Facial Rejuvenation programme.
Why should anyone have to be surrounded by the toxicity of modern mass-produced air fresheners, when the natural therapeutic influence of nature's own aromas are available?
Oshadhi Home Fragrancing products allow you to create your own magic ambience through the use of our selected diffusers combined with your own favourite essential oils and synergy blends. Or you can enjoy our pre-blended floral room sprays.

Juniper has long been associated with a facility to remove obstacles, bringing to the surface and eliminating suppressed emotions and negative memories. A purifier on many levels, as well as helping to dispel nervous tension and stress, it has an affinity with systems of physical elimination. Its decongesting property makes it a useful addition to a massage blend for cellulite and water retention (blend with cypress), and particularly suitable for oily skin. Use juniper in the bath, in a compress, and in aromatherapy massage, and to uplift the spirits in a room diffuser. Juniper oil also blends well with Cedar, Citrus Essential Oils, Lavender, and Clary Sage.
Lavandin (also spelled Lavendine) is a hybrid cross of true lavender (Highland Lavender) and Spike Lavender. The aroma is similar to Lavender but less floral and more herbaceous. Cultivated by cuttings, more lavandin is in production than true lavender because it is easier to grow and produces a high yield of essential oil. Lavendine and true lavender have similar therapeutic properties but lavendines are better suited for respiratory, muscle and circulatory support.
Lavender is one of the most versatile and widely used essential oils. Adored for its beauty and prized aromatic quality, the aroma is fresh, sweet, soft, and floral. Its soothing, balancing, antibacterial, and antiseptic properties make it an essential aid for life's little emergencies - a must-have product for every home. Put a few drops on your pillow for a restful night, or dilute in a massage oil for a soothing muscle rub or skin support. It is a valuable support for the respiratory, and muscular systems, is great for skin care and supports the nervous system relieving stress and strain - and is gentle enough to use with children. Moor Wellness (4 items)
The Moor was created at the time of the last Ice Age when a glacier was formed over a valley rich in plants, herbs and flowers. Free from the decaying effects of oxygen, the plant matter underwent a transformation process over periods of hundreds or thousands of years into a rich dark brown or black substance with magical properties! In this transformation or ripening process all of the organic and inorganic components within the plants are retained.
The purest and most potent source is the Tiefenmoor from Vorarlberg in Austria. This 'deep' moor is excavated from 60 feet below the surface where it is richest and completely homogeneous, resulting in a natural, cream-like consistency.
Our pure moor wellness products include:
The array of herbal properties, trace elements, biologically active matter and organic substances present in the moor are highly bio-available (easily absorbed) to the body, either internally or through the skin. The substances that are required by the body to re-establish balance and health are absorbed. The rest pass through the system unused.

Myrtle Essential Oil is produced from bushes that grow freely in the mediterranean regions. The oil is a good support for the respiratory system and is more pleasing than eucalyptus, which makes it useful for childhood ailments. It works well in a diffuser, and would blend with Bergamot, Thyme, Rosemary and of course Lavender.

Some experts recommend that you should adjust your skin care routine regularly (even every season). Next time you feel ready for a change, make sure you try something natural from the Oshadhi aromatherapy range. You won't be the only one to notice the difference!

There was a time when all perfumes were made with natural ingredients. But by the turn of the 20th Century laboratories began synthesizing scents to replace essential oils. This was to reduce costs and guarantee uniformity.
But the chemical composition of natural oils cannot be synthetically duplicated, especially such complex and delicate oils as rose and jasmine.
Many people bellieve that it is the synthetic chemicals found in many commercial perfumes that contributes to the increasing incidence of allergies and other negative reactions.
Oshadhi Natural Fragrances are guaranteed pure and unadulterated.

Neroli gets its name from an Italian princess, and is considered one of the most beautiful essential oils. It is softly uplifting, balancing anxiety and tension. It has great application in skin care, helping prevent stretch marks and reducing redness, but perhaps it is best used as a luxurious aid for lifting the spirits and nervous exhaustion. Blends beautifully with Rose, Jasmine, Ylang Ylang. A wonderful oil for gentle souls for whom the harshness of modern life is sometimes a bit too much.
Oshadhi's constant quest is to uncover the hidden secrets of the plant world in order to make their healing influence widely available. The gifts that these plants bring is something that is urgently needed at this critical time in mankind's history. Below are some of the amazing new essential oils that have become available in the last few months.
Niaouli is related to Tea Tree and Cajeput and is a strong decongestant and antiseptic oil. These properties make it a superb oil to have around in the winter, and it can be sniffed directly from the bottle or used in steam inhalation. It is also frequently used as a support for troubled skin in a massage blend. The aroma is camphoraceous with a pleasant sweetness which makes it more agreeable and less medicinal than Tea Tree. During the winter try creating a blend with other melaleuca oils such as Tea Tree, Cajeput, and also with Lavender.
Here is a selection of 100% natural source products created to give normal skin an amazing health and radiance.
After removing any makeup, cleanse thoroughly using Cleansing Gel (you will need to add a little water to make it foam). After toning, exfoliate using the wonderfully aromatic gentle Facial Polish. It is recommended to use a little Complete Oil before applying the Facial Mask, which is 100% pure Moor, as this enhances the benefit and prevents it from drying. A serum may be used before or after the mask. While the Mask is on, apply the eye products, before removing the mask, toning again, and finishing with the Moisture Cream.
Oily skin needs a carefully formulated approach, and here are our recommendations.
Orange is an eternally popular oil with a happy and uplifting fragrance. Children love its smell, and its soothing and comforting quality makes it suitable for use in a room diffuser to calm any over excitement. When used in massage blends, it is a great support for the lymphatic and digestive system, helping to eliminate toxins. This quality lends also itelf to anti-cellulite blends, and it also finds a use in skin care for a variety of conditions. Sweet Orange and Bitter Orange are different varieties, and although their properties and uses overlap to a large extent, Bitter Orange is more phototoxic. Orange essential oil blends well with spice oils such as Cinnamon, Clove, Coriander, and with Frankincense, Myrrh, Lavender and Clary Sage.
Oregano is not generally used in aromatherapy, at least not in aromatherapy massage, as a result of its strong phenol content, which may cause skin irritation. It has a strong anti-bacterial action.
Organic Essential oils are listed on this page. Our organic oils are certified by Ecocert, Europe's largest and most stringent certifying body.
Our selection also includes Wild Crafted oils, so a word about them may be necessary. There are many farmers who produce oils that are organic in quality, but perhaps because they can sell everything they produce anyway, or because they don't want to deal with the administration and extra paperwork, they don't feel the need to apply for organic certification.
Parsley is warm, spicy and herbaceous scented. It can be used in massage blends both for sore muscles and joints, and for its calming effect on the mind. It relieves mental fatigue. It contains ketones and is contraindicated in pregnancy and inflammatory kidney diseases.
Pepper oils are listed below:
Peppermint is distinctive, popular and versatile. It supports digestion, respiration, and muscles and joints; and uplifts and invigorates a tired mind. It can be sniffed directly from the bottle, used in a Car Scenter on long journeys to help prevent problems with nausea and fatigue. Use it in a blend to rub onto the abdomen. This will help settle and cleanse the digestive system. Combine it with Lavender in a foot bath for instant vitality and refreshment. Peppermint blends with Sweet Fennel and Orange for the digestive system; and with Ginger, Marjoram and Lavender in a muscle rub; and Eucalyptus and Lavender for the lungs.
Petitgrain is one of three oils derived from the Bitter Orange tree, which also gives us Bitter Orange (from the rind of the fruit) and Neroli (from the flowers). Formerly derived from the unripe fruits (hence the name petit grain) it is now more cost-effectively produced from the leaves. The oil is a great balancing oil, a component of many fragrances, and has wide value in aromatherapy with its uplifting influence, which makes it useful for against the blues, as an aid to sleep and for stress and anxiety. Petitgrain is produced from a number of different citrus trees. It blends well with Lavender, Clary Sage, Geranium, and Sandalwood.
Pine has a fresh, forestal, slightly pungent note which is typical of the pine needle oils of the conifer family. These extremely versatile oils represent the oldest aromatic energy on earth and are mainly linked to the oxgenation of our planet. Their connection with the human respiratory system is old folk medicine. No wonder that scots pine is traditionally used to detoxify and strengthen the mucus membranes of the lungs, bronchies and sinuses.
Pine oil contains bound natural oxygen and hence favours a stronger intake of oxygen and an increased out breath of carbon dioxide: a powerful energizing momentum for the whole system.
Similar to Rosemary, Thyme, Cinnamon or Tea Tree, scots pine is a hyper-tenser and extremely effective in cases of asthenia, fatigue, nervous exhaustion and stress. Its direct straightforward energy instills confidence, courage, boldness, and the untwisted clarity needed by those bowed down by the burden of memory and fate . Here is a shaft of ancient power to lean on and get strong.
